School-Based Therapy

ATS Kids is a proud and humble partner of eight local schools in Greenville and Spartanburg County to provide school-based occupational therapy services during the school year. This partnership ensures that a qualified professional OT is on site at the school to consult with teachers on ways to maximize their student’s potential in the classroom. As a resource to teachers and parents, ATS therapists provide screenings, clinical assessments and treatment.

Outdoor Therapy

Outdoor Therapy at ATS Kids is our umbrella term for services provided beyond the traditional clinic setting—outside the four walls. In this natural environment, children work on motor, social, and regulation skills in meaningful, play-based ways. Climbing playground equipment builds strength and coordination; spontaneous group play fosters turn-taking and social connection; and transitions between activities help develop emotional regulation and confidence.

Because play is the primary occupation of childhood, ATS Outdoor Therapy emphasizes the powerful developmental opportunities that play in the community provides. Occupational and physical therapy goals are integrated into engaging, nature-based activities such as nature walks, crafts made with natural materials, creative movement (like jumping and climbing), and outdoor sensory play.

A growing body of research supports the benefits of nature for children (and adults!), and this evidence forms the foundation of our outdoor sessions. Nature offers an ideal environment to support sensory integration, attention, body awareness, and social interaction—all essential areas for childhood development.

Aquatic Therapy

Pediatric aquatic physical and occupational therapy is a specialized form of therapy that takes place in a pool and is designed to support children with a wide range of physical and sensory challenges. Utilizing the natural properties of water—such as buoyancy, resistance, and hydrostatic pressure—this therapy provides a safe and supportive environment that helps reduce stress on joints while improving strength, balance, coordination, and motor planning. Aquatic therapy is especially beneficial for children with developmental delays, neurological conditions, orthopedic concerns, or sensory processing challenges. Sessions are guided by trained therapists who use play-based, engaging activities to promote functional movement, confidence, and independence in and out of the water.

Feeding Therapy

Having a baby, child, or adolescent who does not feed or eat well is a worrisome, frustrating, confusing and at times, medically concerning problem. We at ATS Kids understand how challenging meal times can be.

Our focus is on helping you as Parents teach your child to eat a wide variety of nutritious foods in order to support their best growth.

Many times, we as parents know that our child, or adolescent is struggling to eat. However, we oftentimes hear the message that we should wait until our children are older because “all kids are picky”, and “all kids outgrow their pickiness”.  In reality, neither of these statements are true. The research shows that about 20% of all children will struggle with some type of feeding challenge at one point or another from Birth to 5/7 years of age. The research also shows that only about ½ of these children will completely “outgrow” their feeding difficulties.

At ATS Kids, we use a sensory approach to support and encourage the child to develop a "relationship" with food and find was to support parents in meal times.

Safe and sound protocol

A listening therapy to unlock your client’s ability to think, feel and connect better through nervous system regulation.

This program can be done in clinic as part of a comprehensive treatment program or at home under under the supervision of a certified clinician.

The SSP isn’t just music — it’s a comprehensive approach to healing. This unique listening therapy is a journey that brings together the client, therapist and the SSP to create a safe space for brain and body integration and healing to achieve impactful, long-lasting results.

DIR/Floortime

Our team includes several trained DIR/Floortime practitioners who deliver evidence-based, relationship-based approach to their treatment.

DIR® is the Developmental, Individual-differences, and Relationship-based model

DIR provides a foundational framework for understanding human development and learning, and how each person individually perceives and interacts with the world differently.

This evidence--based approach hinges on the involvement of parents and caregivers as part of a team and focuses on the underlying reasons for behaviors.

If you are looking for a deeper and more rewarding connection with your child and learn the skills and techniques needed to deepen their Functional Emotional Developmental Capacities (FEDC's)

This is the approach is for you!

Developmental Trauma

Our team is trained in a variety of trauma-informed treatment approaches and has extensive experience supporting children from hard places, including those with histories of foster care, adoption, and abuse or neglect.

Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®)

TBRI is a therapeutic approach designed to help children and youth who have experienced trauma, neglect, or abuse. It focuses on building trust, safety, and connection with caregivers, ultimately promoting healthy emotional regulation and behavior.

Key Principles of TBRI®

Empowerment: Providing children with a sense of control and agency through routines, rituals, and activities.
Connection: Establishing a safe and nurturing environment where children feel loved and accepted.
Correction: Setting clear boundaries and expectations while maintaining a respectful and caring tone.

Interactive Metronome

The Interactive Metronome® (IM) is a computer-based program designed to improve timing, attention, coordination and regulation in children and adults with a wide range of cognitive and physical difficulties. It works by having a child synchronize a range of whole body exercises to a precise computer-generated beat and provides visual and auditory feedback for improved timing, rhythm and synchronization in the brain. IM has game-like features which are motivating to children.

IM can be included into your child's existing treatment plan to support brain change and achieving their goals or as a "stand alone" program to support brain change.

Parents can also opt to do IM at home with the IM-Home under the supervision of one of our certified therapists.

Primitive reflex integration

Reflex Integration is the process by which involuntary infant reflexes (primitive reflexes) integrate into more advanced, voluntary motor control and higher-level cognitive functions as a child develops. When primitive reflexes are not integrated, they can interfere with motor development, coordination, learning, and behavior. Specialized therapy, including rhythmic movements, balance exercises, and sensory stimulation, can help facilitate this integration process.

At ATS Kids we use different reflex integration techniques including Rhythmical Movement Therapy.

Rhythmic Movement Therapy is a therapeutic approach that uses repetitive, coordinated movements to improve physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being. It is based on the idea that early, innate movements that babies make during development can be used to support brain and nervous system development.
